New Parley x Adidas Ultra Boosts Are Almost Entirely Recycled

Following up on multiple successful collections in 2017 that accumulated to over one million pairs sold and most recently, an NMD_CS1, Parley and Adidas are continuing their eco-friendly footwear partnership with five new pairs of some of the Three Stripe's most popular performance models for men and women.

The men's offering will consist of an Ultra Boost, Adizero Prime Boost, and AlphaBounce, while the ladies will have the ability to choose between an Ultra Boost X or AlphaBounce of their own. The entire capsule utilizes a black, blue, and white color scheme. The Ultra Boost and Adizero Prime Boost feature primarily black uppers with blue accent threading and hits on the heel. The Ultra Boost X flips the two colors to create a pair with a majority blue upper and black accents. Each silhouette also sports Adidas' signature Boost cushioning in the midsole.

Both pairs of the AlphaBounce stray away from the darker tones and opt for white uppers with blue hits instead. Another notable feature is also the inclusion of gum bottoms and as always, a majority of the pairs in the five-shoe collection are constructed of a yarn made out of recycled ocean plastics.

Look for the entire Parley x Adidas collection to release at adidas.com and other Adidas retailers on April 22. Retail pricing has yet to be made official. 

UPDATE (04/11): Adidas has unveiled the collection's Ultra Boost and Ultra Boost X models with help from Barcelona goalkeeper Marc ter Stegen, who says he's proud to partner with the brand and join the Parley for the Oceans efforts.

"I live by the sea and try to spend as much time as possible there," Ter Stegen said. "When I first learnt about the adidas and Parley partnership, I immediately connected with it. I want to help change our environment through an initiative I believe in."

Adidas also unveiled the specs of the new models, which it says are built with uppers containing 85 percent recycled ocean plastic—one step closer to the brand's goal of making the standard Ultra Boost's upper 80 percent recycled for fall/winter 2018.

The Parley x Adidas Ultra Boost and Ultra Boost X will be released Monday, April 16 from adidas.com and select Adidas running retailers.
