Today, high fashion brand Alyx did the unexpected by releasing a high top collaboration with Heelys to celebrate the inner child in all of us.
The white canvas sneaker is covered in colorful Alyx branding. Black rubber is used on the toe cap and midsole, while black canvas covers the tongue. Of course, the main selling point that sets this shoe apart from your regular high fashion high top is the removable, glitter-covered wheel in the heel. If you think it is a little too ridiculous for an adult to be rolling around the streets on their heels, a rubber piece can be used to replace the wheel for a traditional walking experience.
Depending on the generation you grew up in, this may or not be a nostalgic sneaker to you. If you were in elementary school in the early 2000s, there is a good chance you were rolling around the halls causing teachers havoc in some Heelys, the original shoe with a wheel in the heel. If not, you might know about Heelys because your child has begged you for a pair. Regardless, up until this point it seemed like the trend among the youth would never infiltrate the fashion world.
Anyone who wants to revisit their childhood can cop a pair over at Alyx's official web store for the significantly steeper price point of approximately $250 (a regular pair of Heelys is less than $100).
