Los Angeles Rams running back Todd Gurley joined host Joe La Puma at Flight Club Los Angeles for the latest episode of Complex’s Sneaker Shopping.

Although he currently reps the West Coast, Gurley grew up in Baltimore, which he credits for shaping his taste in sneakers at a young age. The running back has fond memories of the Nike Air Foamposite range including his very first pair, 2012’s “Metallic Red” Foamposite One. “Growing up, seeing people in the neighborhood, that was just a Baltimore, Maryland, D.C. shoe. I just always wanted them,” says Gurley.

Another piece of Baltimore that sticks with Gurley to this day is his love for veteran NBA star Carmelo Anthony, who he calls his favorite player. “People be hating on him, but I’m gonna support my guy to the end,” says Gurley.

Despite a lucrative NFL contract and connections at Nike—which Gurley says he used to lock down an early pair of Sean Wotherspoon’s Air Max 1/97—there are still some sneaker collections that make him jealous. Gurley admits that after seeing DJ Khaled’s massive closet, he felt the need to step his game up. “It was crazy, just seeing his whole closet, just the shoes. He definitely made my little closet feel like nothing,” says Gurley. “I need to get a setup like Khaled.”
