Late in 2017, Converse and JW Anderson connected for the first collaborative release of a three-part capsule. A few months later, the duo is capping off the range with yet another collection.
The "New_Classics" collection follows up the "Glitter_Gutter" and "Simply_Complex" projects, which took varying approaches to the designs of specific Converse shoes. It draws inspiration from ballet slippers, a reference point for the design of the Chuck 70 U-Throat. This release will also include an exaggerated high-top model, the Chuck 70 XX Hi.Â
The 70 U-Throat will be available in "Black" and "Turtle Green" colorways, each composed of a knit upper with leather detailing on the eyelets and ankle collar. The rubber foxing sports a black and off-white checkered pattern as well. The 70 XX Hi will be releasing in a black make-up with the same leather detailing and foxing pattern as well. A special "Turtle Green" version will be available exclusively at JW Anderson workshops and j-w-anderson.com.
"The vintage ballerina that inspired the shoe was actually more of a sport slipper in mesh. I liked the functionality and lightness of that shoe, and we decided to adopt some details to reinterpret the icon," Anderson told Nike.Â
The rest of the JW Anderson x Converse "New_Classics" collection will release on April 4 at converse.com, j-w-anderson.com, JW Anderson stores, and other select retailers. Pricing has yet to be announced.Â
