Fueled by its momentum in the athletic footwear and apparel market, Adidas' plans to add 200,000 square feet of space to its North Portland campus are now a bit more ambitious.

The Oregonian reports that the company is now adding two three-story buildings and a five-story structure totaling 425,000 square feet, with plans to begin construction in late summer or early fall. Adidas currently employs 1,700 people in 365,000 square feet of space. Last October, Adidas North America President Mark King said that the expansion will increase local workforce from 1,700 to 2,800. As of now, Adidas isn't commenting on whether or not the new plans will add even more jobs.

Additionally, Adidas is is moving its employee store from the current campus on North Greeley Ave. to the Montgomery Park building in Northwest Portland in response to neighborhood complaints about crowding.

In one of its most successful years to date, Adidas' sales grew 16 percent to more than $24 billion in 2017 and the brand continues to trend upward.
