Wale is a public figure, but he isn't your average "celebrity sneakerhead." Before the hype, social media influencers and non-athlete endorsement deals, he was just a guy who loved sneakers and happened to be a talented, successful musician to boot. Ahead of his time, Wale had a hand in helping Nike sell shoes like the ACG Goadome and Air Foamposite One, even though he wasn't on board in an official capacity. As brands continue to hand out deals to every rapper that comes along, Wale is oddly being left out of the mix, so he's reminding everybody that there's a difference between those who care and those who care as long as you cut the check.

Yesterday, Wale hopped on Instagram Live to show off a portion of his famous sneaker collection, going through pair-after-pair in an incredible story. In about 13 minutes, we see vintage original pairs, pre-hype classics, modern favorites, samples, player exclusives and customs. He even offers a pair of deadstock "Satin" Air Jordan 1s to the first person who ripped and shared the entire story.

Will Wale ever receive the call to represent Nike and/or Jordan Brand in an official capacity? Remains to be seen, but it's long overdue.
