Last October, Nike gave shareholders a first glimpse at the Air Max 270, a lifestyle-specific model for the storied franchise that was to release in 2018. It fully unveiled the new shoe this week, accompanying its rollout with a few key bullet points that set it apart from previous silhouettes in the line.
For one, the Air Max 270's chunky heel unit is the first Air bag designed specifically for lifestyle purposes. While there have been lifestyle Air Max shoes before, none have had their own bag that wasn't pulled from a one-time performance shoe.
Secondly, according to Nike News, it has the tallest-ever Max Air heel unit, at 32 mm. The brand says that this allows for a new level of heel volume displacement and, in turn, better cushioning.
Per Nike, the Air Max 270 release date is set for Feb. 1 on SNKRS.
