For this week's games, NFL players are permitted to wear custom cleats as part of #MyCauseMyCleats, an initiative that provides players with a platform to promote the causes they hold closely. Tennessee Titans wide receiver is using his Nike Vapor Untouchable Pro cleats to swing support in the direction of Colin Kaepernick and his Know Your Rights Camp.
Customized by SolesbySir, the cleats are painted in black and white and feature a silhouette of a kneeling Kaepernick on the right toe. Know Your Rights is fully funded by the quarterback and helps educate the youth on how to deal with law enforcement in various situations.
Like Kaepernick, Matthews has peacefully protested police brutality and injustice during pregame playings of the national anthem. He's remained in the locker room before each game this season, with the exception of the day after Veterans Day, which he marked by taking the field with military personnel. Matthews' brother was killed in Afghanistan in 2015.
Along with his protest, Matthews has contributed large donations to organizations working in oppressed communities. He and the Titans will host the Houston Texans on Sunday.
