One of the most coveted items at this year's ComplexCon, the limited edition 'N.E.R.D' Adidas NMD Hu designed by Pharrell Williams currently resells for $4,500 to $6,000. Unfortunately, that kind of value appeals to lowlifes in search of a come up by any means necessary. That's apparently the case in a situation being investigated by the Irvine Police Department.

Earlier today, the department's Twitter account summoned help in their search for two suspects, one of which is armed. It's believed that they robbed a local resident for his pair of the rare sneakers. The IPD even made sure to get the crimebusters over at Hypebeast on the case.

The police are working with a lead, though. According to the Twitter feed, the following is a video of one of the suspects recently shopping at Irvine Market.

However things turn out, the apparent robbery is just the latest reminder of why we all should be on high alert during and after making these purchases. Particularly as resale prices continue to skyrocket.
