Converse is introducing a brand new collection of premium footwear and apparel in collaboration with Slam Jam and visual artist Cali Thornhill Dewitt. The new Urban Utility collection will debut with the "Your Silence Gets You Nothing" capsule featuring new takes on classic Converse silhouettes.
The collection aims to celebrate the importance of freedom and creative expression by adding new features to popular staples like hoodies and T-shirts, as well as the iconic Chuck Taylor. Footwear in the collection includes the Chuck '70 Hiker, Chuck '70 Utility Hiker, and Converse Jump Boot. The first two silhouettes more closely resemble the classic Converse models that have become commonplace in today's fashion, while the latter takes on the aesthetic of a military boot.
The Chuck '70 Hiker is offered in olive and black options, and is constructed out of re-purposed military apparel. The multi-material Gore-Tex upper sports a classic lacing system and is, of course, waterproof. The Chuck '70 Utility Hiker will release in neon, khaki, and black options. Its Gore-Tex, fused upper utilizes mesh and canvas paneling, while a traditional lacing system is replaced with elastic bands. The final pair, the Converse Jump Boot, is the most unique of the bunch. Coming in white and black colorways, this pair turns the Jack Purcell silhouette into a military boot with an extended ankle collar, Gore-Tex upper, and extra long laces.
The entire 17-piece Converse Urban Utility collection is available starting Dec. 5 at converse.com and other select retailers. The footwear will range from $150-$160.
