Few skaters on Nike SB's roster are as revered as Eric Koston, who inked a deal with the Swoosh's skateboarding imprint in 2009. In the latest episode of Sneaker Shopping, he explains just how the brand wooed him during a trip to its Beaverton, Oregon, headquarters.
During the visit, employees planted around the HQ wore mockups of Koston gear inspired by Nike typefaces and logos. First there were baristas donning the Koston wear, then more Nike employees in a gym with more custom Koston apparel.
"That was a pretty good hard sell right there," Koston says.
Koston says in the video that he coveted Nike product even while he was under contract with other footwear companies, and would track down SB Dunks during the silhouette's heyday.
