The 2017-18 NBA season is officially here, and following chaotic offseason where teams retooled to compete with the reigning champion Golden State Warriors, the league looks much different than it did just a few months ago. The shuffling of teams not only included the typical role players to fill out missing pieces of rosters, but several notable stars, including even signature athletes.
Paul George, Kyrie Irving, Derrick Rose, Chris Paul, Rajon Rondo, and Dwyane Wade all landed on new teams–and that’s not even including Carmelo Anthony, who reportedly won’t be getting any new signature models. Add those names to the list of signature athletes who stuck with the same team (or are rookies), and it makes for an impressive array of players at many different points of their careers, signed to a wide variety of brands that prove basketball truly is a global game.
At least one more name is expected to land on that list in the near future as well. Upon signing the largest endorsement deal in Jordan Brand history, it was reported that Russell Westbrook will be getting an on-court signature model.
To mark the tipoff of the new season, we’re taking a closer look the current signature landscape in the NBA—from the superstars, all the way to players whose signature status may come as a surprise.Â
