Unveiled with the help of pro skateboarder Lacey Baker, Nike is releasing its first skate shoe made exclusively for women, the Nike SB Bruin High. Nike surveyed Baker, as well as other SB pro skaters Leticia Bufoni, Sarah Meurle, and Josie Millard to determine the perfect fit for women.

“The most important thing for me in footwear is a balance of durability, boardfeel, snugness, and support,” Baker told Nike.

The Bruin High features a sculpted shape with a shallow forefoot and more tapered heel than a traditional men's skate shoe in order to achieve the desired fit. This model also replaces the usual square pattern on the footbed with a tri-star pattern to improve structure, decrease weight, and increase flexibility.

The Women's Nike SB Bruin High will release in black and grey suede colorways on Oct. 5 through the Nike app, nike.com, and other select retailers.
