In June, Under Armour hopped into the online sneaker customization game when it debuted Icon, its answer to programs such as NIKEiD and MiAdidas. The standout design option is the ability to upload personal photos to be printed on the sneaker, an evolution of the concept introduced through Adidas' MiZXFlux app in 2014.
Among the first wave of models available to customize using Icon is Stephen Curry's first signature sneaker, the Under Armour Curry 1. In addition to photo prints, designers can choose from pre-loaded customizable patterns, limited edition prints, and/or select any color they want. While the general response to the program has been positive, some Curry enthusiasts are quick to point out that this retro doesn't come equipped with beloved Anafoam, but rather a material they simply refer to as Performance Foam. How exactly that impacts the shoe's performance value is up to the wearer.
