Nike is selling a limited number of the Breaking2 race sneakers from the brand's sub-two-hour marathon attempt. Just 99 pairs of the new red colorway pictured here will be available to Nike members in Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, Italy, Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, Luxembourg, and the United Kingdom.
Members need to complete a "Just Do It" Sunday run on Sept. 24 with the Nike Run Club app to enter for a chance to buy them. Those who secure a chance will be notified on Sept. 27 and granted the ability to purchase the shoes for €500. There will also be an opportunity to buy this Zoom VaporFly Elite at Nike's Berlin store (Tauentzienstrasse 9, 10789) on Sept. 23.
This colorway of the shoes was made for Eliud Kipchoge, who ran the fastest marathon ever at Nike's Breaking2 event in May, to wear at this weekend's Berlin Marathon. Kipchoge has a personalized version of the shoe (pictured below) with his logo, "Beyond the Limits" mantra, and family's names.
Nike previously said that it had no plans to release this shoe, although it gave away a limited number of pairs after the Breaking2 race.
