With the 2017-18 NBA season rapidly approaching, the Charlotte Hornets took to Twitter on Wednesday to unveil a look paying tribute to the team’s original uniforms. Essentially an updated throwback jersey, this “classic” edition features the same pinstripes in royal blue, light blue, purple, and green as it did when players like Dell Curry and Larry Johnson played for the Hornets in the 1990s. Like the previously announced “association” and “icon” jerseys, they feature Nike Aeroswift technology and a Jumpman logo.
The Hornets will wear this jersey three times during the season: on Nov. 15 against the Cavaliers, Dec. 23 against the Bucks, and Jan. 13 against the Thunder.
Each team in the league is being outfitted with new jerseys this season as Nike takes over the NBA apparel deal. The Hornets are unique in that they’re the only squad to wear the Jumpman logo, and that they’re one of eight teams to also be outfitted with a classic edition jersey.
