One of the big takeaways from New York Fashion Week was the dominance of Nike, which looked like everything but a brand on the decline during its stay in the Big Apple. Events like Virgil Abloh's Off-White x Nike Off Campus Panel, Ronnie Fieg's KITH runway show, various product activations and workshops made headlines throughout the week. Nike was the talk of the town and there wasn't a competitor in sight.

Nike's big week was a topic of discussion on the latest episode of Full Size Run, with Rich "MaZe" Lopez proclaiming that the "stories of Nike's demise have been greatly exaggerated."

"Adidas obviously poked the bear with Nike," said Lopez. "They came through, they smacked Nike in the face and took their lunch money, and Nike is on the warpath right now."

Guest host Matt Welty of Complex Sneakers recognizes Adidas' current pattern of growth, but believes Nike will be hard to catch due to its longstanding partnerships and undeniable star power.

"Nike is still able to pull in the bigger names," said Welty. "Adidas may be getting the kids to buy into their stuff now, but when you talk about celebrities and all of that, Nike has the roster of people to bring on down."

Lopez also pointed out that these types of events is an area in which Nike continues to raise the bar, while Adidas is still trying to figure out how to create these moments beyond the Yeezy brand. Whatever happens in the next year, the fact that this discussion is even being had is why competition is healthy for the industry.

Also in this episode, the team talks Nike LeBron 15, PSNY x Air Jordan 15 Boots, Steph Curry vs. Kevin Durant and next year's Air Jordan retros. View the full unedited version on Facebook and be sure you're subscribed to Full Size Run on iTunes for weekly audio.
