This weekend, Los Angeles Angels first baseman Albert Pujols will play in custom Nike cleats in support of the fight against human trafficking.
The cleats will be worn to coincide with the launch of Strike Out Slavery, an initiative formed by Pujols and his wife Deidre to raise awareness and funds for organizations battling the crime. Their inaugural Hero + Living Legend Experience fundraiser culminates with Strike Out Slavery Day at Angel Stadium this Saturday, Sept. 16.
“As we learned about children as young as 4 years old being forced into labor and sex trafficking, we felt compelled to act,” said Pujols. “We know that if Major League Baseball teams, players and fans join us, we could spread awareness about modern slavery and help an international network of nonprofit organizations rally against it.”
Pujols' weekend cleats and battling gloves were customized by Nomad Customs. For more information on how you can join the fight against human trafficking, visit Strike Out Slavery.
