The first signature sneaker of Lakers rookie Lonzo Ball will be unprecedented in a lot ways, chief among them price, with the shoe fetching $495 at retail. According the the New York Post, Stephon Marbury, who revived his low-price Starbury sneaker brand in 2016, is on board with the idea of the family business if not the approach of LaVar Ball.

"When I see a sneaker for over $400, for me, that’s kind of brainless because it doesn’t cost that much to make," Marbury said while addressing NYU students in New York City on Wednesday. "I like the idea of them wanting to own their own brand. I do like that idea, just not for the price tag."

Part of his problem with the price stems from Lonzo "not playing one game in the NBA" yet.

He previously expressed support for LaVar, saying the father should want his own brand based on how promising the endorsement future of his children is.
