In addition to relaxing its strict policy on footwear, the NFL has announced the return of "My Cause, My Cleats" for Week 13 of the 2017 season. The initiative allows players across the league to wear pre-approved custom cleats in varying colorways in support of a cause near to them.

Last December, more than 500 players participated in My Cause, My Cleats, including Aaron Rodgers, Odell Beckham, Drew Brees, Von Miller and Antonio Brown. According to Sports Illustrated, a league source is indicating that no fewer than 1,300 players have expressed interest this season.

A sign that the league will place even more of an emphasis on the campaign this season, stories promoting individual player's causes will begin during Week 8.
