In concept, Nike Sportswear's "Rebel Skulls" runners are the latest nod to the brand's first ever signature athlete—Steve Prefontaine.
Before being dubbed "America's Distance Prodigy" as a standout at the University of Oregon, Prefontaine won three state titles and went undefeated in his final two years at Marshfield High School. At the time, the school was represented by a skull and crossbones logo, which leads back to this summer's collection and the Nike Air Max 95.
A pair that'll probably be a heavy favorite in Oakland this fall, the runner sports an aggressive mix of black and metallic silver, only broken up by a white Max-cushioned midsole. The skull logo is embroidered on each tongue.
Expect the "Rebel Skulls" Air Max 95 to release this September for $170 at nike.com and Nike Sportswear retailers.
