Is Big Baller Brand not getting it done on the court? Now isn't the time for overreactions, but Lonzo Ball did pass on wearing his $495 ZO2 signature sneaker in tonight's preseason game between the Los Angeles Lakers and Philadelphia 76ers.
Instead, Ball played in the "Purple Stardust" Nike Kobe A.D., which just released earlier this month. If you're a Laker and decide to wear sneakers that aren't your own, a pair of Kobes is probably the way to go.
Ball previously copped to using elements of some of his favorite sneakers, such as Nike Kobes, to design the ZO2. When the model was debuted back in May, and countless number of tweets were sent making the Kobe comparison.
Whether or not this will be a common occurrence throughout the season remains to be seen. It was reported that Nike turned down an opportunity to sign Ball to an endorsement deal after his father LaVar insisted on making it a co-branded Big Baller Brand pact. However, Ball finished with 36 points—his best output of Summer League thus far. Perhaps it's the shoes.
