For the past few weeks, Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid and basketball's most controversial father, LaVar Ball, have been involved in a war of words. Now, it looks like Embiid is willing to end this feud, sort of.
In a brief interview with TMZ, Embiid says that he would wear the Big Baller Brand ZO2 on court this season under one condition: He wants LaVar to pay him $1 billion. This is clearly a troll referencing LaVar requesting $1 billion sneaker deals from brands like Nike and Adidas for his son Lonzo leading up the 2017 NBA Draft. Embiid's original response to the question, when he replied with "Shit, nothing," was probably a more honest one.
This is the latest in a line of jabs on social media from Embiid towards the Ball family. Embiid received a $10,000 fine for his F-bomb directed towards the father of the Lakers point guard earlier this month in an Instagram video.
Please dunk on him so hard that his daddy runs on the court to save him.. https://t.co/cMvt5RYiSQ— Joel Embiid (@JoelEmbiid) June 22, 2017
It doesn't look like this relationship is going to patch itself up any time soon, but at least it's something to anticipate when the Sixers and Lakers face off this upcoming season.
