When Michael Jordan retired from the NBA to play baseball, the Air Jordan 9 became his first signature sneaker not to be worn on the court. Despite never being worn on the court, MJ did wear a cleated version of the Air Jordan 9 during his time with the Chicago White Sox's minor league affiliate, the Birmingham Barons. Now, Jordan Brand is remembering MJ's brief change in sports with the Air Jordan 9.

Instagram user 2muchsol3 previewed the new Barons-themed colorway. With a clear baseball inspiration, the Air Jordan 9 "Barons" features a black leather upper, leather laces and leather crossed weaving pattern—similar to an actual baseball—on the sides and back. White is used on the sock liner, Air Jordan Branding and outsole. Michael Jordan's baseball jersey number 45 is also used in place of the standard 23.

As of now, there is no release date information on the Air Jordan 9 "Barons." Stay posted to Sole Collector for future updates.
