While most have laughed off LaVar Ball's suggestion that his sons are worthy of a billion-dollar sneaker deal, New York Knicks legend and budget footwear supplier Stephon Marbury doesn't share the sentiment. In an interview with The Undefeated, Marbury opens up on his thoughts about the deal that LaVar is shopping around.

"If he was able to express why he wanted [a billion dollar deal] and explained it without saying it how he said it, which is his prerogative, he wouldn’t be scaring people," Marbury says. "He has three kids who are really good basketball players. He should want to own his own brand."

LaVar appears to have jeopardized the chances for a deal from Adidas, Nike, or Under Armour for his eldest son, Lonzo, the former UCLA star guard who's expected to be a high pick in the 2017 NBA draft. Part of that has to do with the reported demand that a bigger company license his startup Big Baller Brand.

Marbury says in the piece that while he doesn't have the capital to fund the sort of operation LaVar is looking for, he has the resources to put him in touch with manufacturers in China.

Sneaker endorsement options aren't looking great for Lonzo Ball at the moment, Ewing Athletics being the only brand among those polled by Sole Collector that expressed interest in a deal with him.
