It was strange to see Michael Jordan dressed in Michigan colors at the team's home opener last season. The basketball icon turned businessman attended the game in support of the Wolverines becoming Jordan Brand's first ever college football program. While the move generated the expected industry excitement, many were left wondering why Jordan's alma mater, North Carolina, didn't get the call. According to Inside Carolina, that will change next season.

It's being reported that UNC Football will begin wearing Jordan uniforms in 2017. An official announcement is expected to be made soon. The program, which signed a 10-year deal with Nike back in 2009, is also expected to negotiate a new Nike deal.

More on this development when things become official.

UPDATE 3/4: That didn't take long. Today, North Carolina, Nike and Jordan Brand have officially announced that UNC Football will be representing Jumpman on-field next season. The new looks will debut during the Tar Heels' home opener against California on Sep. 2. As seen in the tweet below, Jumpman logos are already on the field.

Michael Jordan himself was in the building to deliver the announcement during today's Duke vs. North Carolina basketball game.
