The Atmos x Air Jordan 3 x Nike Air Max 1 pack will release globally on March 18. While the sneakers were originally rumored to arrive on Air Max Day, March 26, Nike confirmed the release date on Friday with a press release breaking down the shoes.
The two-shoe pack, retailing for $400, combines an update of 2007's Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 with a new Air Jordan 3 featuring safari print and "Nike Air" on the back. The "Nike Air" detail is something of a strange choice as Jordan has usually reserved that branding for original colorways.
The 2007 Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 referenced the Jordan 3 with its elephant print, hence the pairing of the two shoes in a box set here. Atmos designer Hirofumi Kojima says the Jordan 3 is his favorite silhouette in the line, which led to the design choices on his Air Max 1.
"The Air Jordan 3 is my personal favorite, which was the first one to use elephant pattern on a shoe," Kojima told Nike. "Air Max 1 Elephant was one of three shoes made under the concept of zoo, which was inspired by elephants swimming in the zoo."
The Atmos x Nike Air Max 1 will also release separately on March 18. The pair sold individually is truer to the original, lacking the Jumpman branding on bottom and other minor changes.
