Another of Michael Jordan's non-Bulls appearances will inspire a retro sneaker. For this pair, his time in the Air Jordan 2 while playing collegiate throwback games in the late 1980s informs a 2017 release.
The Air Jordan 2 in UNC Tar Heels colors seen here is a direct reference to an early player exclusive pair worn by Michael Jordan himself. Per Todd Krevanchi's Brannock blog, Jordan donned a similar sneaker for a June 28, 1987, Collegiate Legends Classic game—hence the date on the back.
There is no Jordan release date information available for this sneaker yet, but one assumes it will arrive near the 20th anniversary of the game referenced on the heel.
