When it comes to celebrity couples, few have ever had the same dynamic of Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert–especially when it comes to sneakers. In an industry that’s dominated by male endorsees, Shumpert has had the rare opportunity to support his wife by wearing her collaborative kicks on an NBA court.
Shumpert, who has previously had a contract with Adidas, has been a sneaker free agent since his deal expired just prior to the start of the season. Since, he’s been seen wearing a wide variety of kicks this from multiple brands, the most notable of which has been the all-red Reebok Question designed by his wife, which released back in October of 2016.
After first being spotted warming up in them in late December, he went on to actually lace up a pair for a game the following week. Taylor recognized what a special moment that was. “It felt dope,” she began. ”You don’t see that everywhere. He was really gettin’ buckets in my sneakers.”
Taylor spoke with media prior to her performance at Reebok’s Classics in the Courtyard event, and went on to say that not only does she keep an eye on the sneakers her husband is wearing, she helps him pick them out.
“He’ll be like, ‘Babe, imma pull these out today.’ And I’ll be like, ‘Nah, do these.’ Like when he wore them heavy-ass Foamposites and couldn’t get no buckets. I was like, ‘Yo, they holdin’ you down. Change them shits at halftime.’” [laughs]
As for who has the better collection, Taylor admits that it’s close matchup. “Me and him, we go neck and neck. It’s like 50-50, because he knows his shit too,” she said. But when pressed, Taylor eventually relented, “Probably me.”
The event, part of Reebok’s All-Star Weekend festivities, also featured performances by fellow endorsees Currensy and Cam’ron, who no strangers to Reebok collaborations. Check out more shots from the event below.
