This year's Air Max Day celebration will not only celebrate retro styles but will also look to the future with this, the new Nike VaporMax. The model has been in incubation for a long time—almost 8 years in total according to NikeLab Senior Design Director of Footwear Nate Jobe. The lengthy design period birthed a breakthrough, with the shoe using a full-length standalone Air unit.

Shown here are two upcoming inline colorways of the shoe, a women's in white and red and a men's in pure platinum, currently scheduled for a March 25 release.

Note that while the VaporMax hasn't had a full release yet, the Comme des Garçons pair had a limited release in New York City last week.
