This year's NBA All-Star Saturday Night wasn't exactly everything fans hoped for. In particular, the Dunk Contest fell short when favorite Aaron Gordon failed to cleanly convert either of his first two dunks. Similarly, Three-Point Contest favorite Klay Thompson didn't make it out of the first round.
With that said, the performances of the champions can't be discredited. The most overlooked dunker in the field, Glenn Robinson III put together a quality exhibition and took home the big gold ball for his efforts. Eric Gordon, experiencing somewhat of a career resurgence in Houston, shot consistently well to earn himself the three-point title. One instance of star power coming through was when New York Knicks big man Kristaps Porzingis showed off his all-around game to claim the Skills Challenge.
Much like the contests, the night was big for underdogs in the sneaker industry. Gordon and Porzingis put wins on the boards for Adidas Basketball, winning in custom colorways of the Crazy Explosive. Even more stunning, Robinson III threw his dunks down in Dwyane Wade's Li-Ning Way of Wade 5 signature shoe. Nike wasn't completely left without a moment — dunker Derrick Jones Jr., who looked like the frontrunner after the first round, debuted the gold Supreme x Nike Air More Uptempo on the court.
