The coming pack of "Chinese New Year" Air Jordan releases won't just stick to retros. Accompanying the two Air Jordan 12s in the group is this pair, an Air Jordan 31 inspired by the original "Taxi" Air Jordan 12.
The Air Jordan 31 in general has been prone to referencing past releases with its colorways, a good chunk of which are based on Air Jordan 1s. This shoe's reference to the Air Jordan 12 is tied to the model's release in 1996-97, the latter being the year that Jordan Brand formally entered the Chinese Market. In turn, the pack in general is a celebration of Jordan's two decades in Greater China.
The new Air Jordan "Chinese New Year" pack will release first on Dec. 25 via Jordan.com in China and stores like Phantaci in Taipei and Nike's Kicks Lounge in Hong Kong. A wider release, which still looks to be exclusive to China, will come on Jan. 7, 2017.
