The Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 is the sort of shoe that has to be experienced—rather than read about—to be truly understood. The shoe boasts Nike's latest innovation: adaptive lacing, which comes alive and automatically cinches the shoe around the wearer's foot when it senses pressure in the heel. Nike+ members will have the opportunity to trial the shoes in New York City beginning this week.

Sign-ups opened today here for anyone wanting to try out the futuristic, $720 sneaker. Unfortunately the first couple sessions are already filled, but more should open up through the month of December. The HyperAdapt will also be available for purchase at these sessions, which take place at the Nike Soho store and the Nike+ Clubhouse at 45 Grand St.

Per a Nike News story from earlier this month, a wider release of the Nike HyperAdapt 1.0 at additional doors in the U.S. will follow later in December.
