James Harden Will Use His Adidas Gear to Hide Himself in Public

James Harden says he can wear his new apparel to hide his signature beard on runs to Target.

James Harden is one of the most recognizable players in the NBA thanks to his signature beard, a piece of facial hair that no doubt gives him away when he's just trying to enjoy life off-court without being spotted by the public. Built into his forthcoming collection with Adidas is a new jacket that helps him do just that though.

The MVP Hoodie, a style shown off at Adidas' launch event for Harden's first collection and signature sneaker with the brand, has an exaggerated collar that the Rockets All-Star plans to use to blend-in better.

"He was like, 'Oh, that's gonna cover my beard,'" says Adidas apparel design director Bea Fuller of Harden's reaction to first seeing the piece. "And I was like, 'Yeah is that OK?' And he was like, 'Yeah I can just go to Target now.' So the ability to be kind of mysterious and pop the hood up, I think he was really compelled by that."

Of course a 6'5" guy clad in all Adidas still might be a giveaway at Houston-area Targets, but perhaps Harden will be able to truly go incognito with the piece.

Harden's first Adidas apparel launches this fall and his first signature shoe, the Adidas Harden Vol. 1, releases on Dec. 3.
