This Is What Happens When You Don't Wear Your Sneakers

An Air Jordan 8 crumbles to bits.

Aqua Air Jordan 8 Original Crumbled

Those pairs of sneakers sitting in your closet and growing old will eventually fall apart. Anyone with original pairs from the 1990s or before is acquainted with this painful fact, which we're reminded of today by designer Jeff Staple who shared the above image on Instagram.

On display is a pair of the "Aqua" Air Jordan 8—presumably an original from 1993—with its midsole disintegrated. This is a sneaker that has been retroed plenty since its debut decades ago, so it's not as if new pairs are hard to come by, but it still hurts to see a piece of sneaker history in this state.

If nothing else, perhaps the crumbled piece of Jordan footwear can serve as a reminder that the shoes you love will one day die, so you might as well wear them in the meantime.
