How Do Baby Air Jordans Compare to the Originals?

Grade: B+

It may not be the most complex design to recreate, but the toddler edition of the Air Jordan 1 includes all of the major details, right down to the miniature Wings logo.

Grade: A

One area where we often see skimping on these smaller recreations is the textures, but this one actually gets it right.  It may not use Italian leather, but neither do the retro editions of the men's Air Jordan 2. 

Grade: B-

While none of these toddler-sized Air Jordans include the cushioning of their larger counterparts, the models with visible tech get docked a point for being so obvious about it.

Grade: C+

The design of the Air Jordan 4 isn't a simple one, so while this version gets credit for including all of the key details, it gets docked for altering the materials of said details.

Grade: B+

The mesh on this toddler edition of the Air Jordan 5 looks like it could have come straight from the original. Were it not for the missing Air, this could have been an "A."

To be fair, the Air Jordan 6 has a fairly complex design. But this recreation misses too many details including the lace lock, pull tabs in the tongue, and the visible Air.

This mini-edition gets nearly every detail right and is immediately recognizable as an Air Jordan 7, but the shape doesn't quite translate to such a scaled-down size.

The Air Jordan 8 is one of the more complex designs in the line, so this edition deserves credit for fitting most of the signature details in such a limited space.

Grade: B+

The rather simple design of the Air Jordan 9 lends itself to a successfully executed mini edition. The only things missing are the plastic eyelets.

Grade: A

From the materials, to the signature details, to the shape, and even the patterns, this Air Jordan 10 nails the look of the original.

Grade: C

Sure, it has patent leather and a clear outsole, but the overall shape and the addition of a strap ruin the style. If the original looked like this, it would have never achieved the iconic status it holds today. 

Grade: B+

A few key details are missing, like the metallic eyelets and plastic "Jumpman" tag, but all of the most important features are here on this Air Jordan 12. The shape may not perfectly translate to this size, but it does have an undeniable charm.

It would have been easy to just slap a Jumpman logo on the heel, similar to the low-top editions of the Air Jordan 13. But the baby 13 not only nailed most of the upper design, it even included the original’s signature hologram. 

Grade: A

With its asymmetrical collar, outriggers, and Jumpman shield, the Air Jordan 14 has an involved design. It would have been understandable to cheap out on the details, but this baby edition includes them all.
