Nike made sneakerheads out of a few newborn babies in Portland this week, outfitting them with volt shoes to commemorate Olympic decathlete Ashton Eaton's latest gold medal. KGW reports that the shoes were dropped off for babies born at Legacy Good Samaritan Medical Center on Aug. 18, the same day Eaton secured his medal.

The medal marks the second straight Olympic gold for Eaton, a Portland native and Nike-sponsored athlete.

Per KGW, babies received pairs of the Nike Waffle 1 and an inspirational note.

The move is a reference to Nike's "Unlimited Future" spot, embedded below, that portrays top Nike athletes as newborns in the hospital.
