Kobe Bryant’s career officially came to an end earlier this year, but his legacy lives on–a legacy that includes 18 All-Star Games, an NBA MVP, signature sneaker lines with multiple brands, and five rings. And throughout that career, whether times were good or bad, no matter what, Bryant never stopped shooting.

While his game may not have evolved much, his fashion certainly did—albeit at a pace not totally consistent with what was actually in style. In honor of his birthday, we’re taking a look back at just how much his looks have changed over the years. (We’ll give him a pass on this “White Hot” photoshoot since we never spotted Kobe actually dressing that way.)
