The road to gold in Rio for USA Basketball began with an exhibition against old rival Argentina in Las Vegas last night.
Not quite as stout as the Argentine team that's given the Americans trouble in the past, the Manu Ginobili led group struggled to keep up with Coach K's latest lineup, despite so many big names turning down invitations this time around. New Golden State Warrior Kevin Durant led all scorers with 23 points on 7-of-12 shooting, followed by Paul George's 18 and veteran Carmelo Anthony's 17. Behind the balanced attack, Team USA got this Olympic run off to a good start with a 111-74 showcase victory.
On the sneaker front, there weren't many surprises, but the game did offer a first on-court look at many of the models you can expect to see in Brazil this summer. Noticeably absent was the recently unveiled Air Jordan 31, which is probably being kept on ice until the summer games are underway.
