Nike is undoubtedly hard at work creating new Warriors-inspired colorways of Kevin Durant’s ninth signature model, following his surprise announcement of leaving the Oklahoma City Thunder. But thanks to the multitude of colorways Nike has released with each and every one of his previous models, he has plenty of choices to pick from already when it comes to Bay Area-themed colorways. Here are his 10 best options.
10 Kevin Durant Sneakers That Proved He Was Destined to Play for Golden State
Bay Area colorways dating back to the beginning of KD's signature line.
Nike Zoom KD 1 “Sonics”
Release Date: 2/19/2009
The Bay Area is home to multiple professional sports teams. Geographically, none are closer to the Warriors than the Oakland Athletics, who play their home games right across the street from KD’s new home at Oracle Arena. This old Sonics colorway would be the perfect way to show his neighborhood pride for the A’s.
Nike Zoom KD 2 "OKC Home”
Release Date: 01/23/2010
When the Golden State Warriors move to San Francisco in 2019, their new arena will be just a short drive from the Bay’s other baseball team (the good one). This 2010 colorway works better for the Giants than it ever did for the Thunder.
Nike Zoom KD 3 “EA Sports”
Release Date: 02/17/2011
Northern California, and particularly the Silicon Valley, is known as the one of the technology capitals of the world. The video game theme of this sneaker fits just right, with EA's headquarters in nearby Redwood City, as does it’s Warriors-friendly colorway.
Nike Zoom KD 4 “Entourage”
Release Date: 04/21/2012
This sneaker got its nickname from its similarity to the “Entourage” colorway of the LeBron 8 V2, but they both make more sense as a Golden State Warriors sneaker than anything involving Vincent Chase.
Nike Zoom KD 4 “Scoring Title”
Release Date: 07/21/2012
With so much offensive firepower on this revamped Warriors team, it will be hard for anyone to win a scoring title. They’ll have to share the ball among multiple elite offensive players. But at least these colors will match.
Nike KD 5 Elite “OKC Home”
Release Date: 05/18/2013
Nike’s liberal use of the terms “home” and “away” when it came to KD’s OKC-themed sneakers means that some of his old sneakers actually match his new team better than the one they were designed for.
Nike KD 6 “OKC Home”
Release Date: 02/22/2014
Once again, thanks to Nike not sticking to the Thunder’s actual colors, KD has plenty of Warrior-ready options.
Nike KD 6 Elite Premium “Supremacy”
Release Date: 07/18/2014
Considering Nike’s penchant for using metallic gold on their signature athletes’ Finals sneakers, this could be a preview of what to expect on KD’s future kicks–should the Warriors somehow find a way to overcome all odds and make it back.
Nike KD 7 EXT “The Badd35t”
Release Date: 12/13/14
Whether you’re talking about their win-loss record, or their tough-guy image, “The Badd35t” KD 7 EXT is a perfect tribute to his Bay-mates, the Oakland Raiders.
Nike KD8 Elite “Home”
Release Date: 4/14/16
If, for some strange reason, KD wanted to revisit the Elite edition of his 8th signature model, this simple white colorway with blue trim would work just fine with his new team’s colors.
