Nike Signs Buddy Hield

He won the nation over after leading the Oklahoma Sooners to the Final Four. Now, Buddy Hield's hard work has paid off in the form of an endorsement deal with sportswear brand Nike.

The Vertical's Nick DePaula reported the multi-year agreement moments ago, crediting the negotiating to Hield's agent Rob Pelinka of Landmark Sports.

In his senior year, Hield averaged 25 points, 5.7 rebounds and 2 assists per game. As a result, he was named Big 12 Player of the Year and won several overall College Player of the Year nods, including the coveted Wooden Award.

According to DePaula, Nike is responding to stiffer competition in the basketball category from adidas and Under Armour by beefing up its offers to incoming prospects. Earlier this week, the company announced a significant deal with presumptive #1 overall pick Ben Simmons.
