The good news is the Nike Air Max 96, a cult favorite running shoe, is coming back in 2016. The bad news is Nike's replaced the original sole of the shoe with an updated tooling that's already causing many groans from those who've been waiting for years for this model to return.
The new shoe is dubbed the Air Max 96 XX; the "XX" presumably in reference to the 20 years that have passed since the 96 debuted.
In place of the original 96 sole is a squished-down version of the Air Max 95 sole, which looks to be borrowed from the Air Max 95 Ultra update.
