With its grand opening earlier today, Detroit officially became the latest site of a Nike Community Store.

The Nike Detroit Community Store captures the city's spirit by featuring work from local artists, photographers, and designers while celebrating the city's storied sporting tradition. Like its name implies and like its done at previous Community location, the shop is meant to create a sense of community by hiring a workforce that is comprised of at least 80% of members that live within a five-mile radius of the shop. These employees - known as 'store athletes' - also volunteer with local area groups such as the Boys and Girls Club to further build and strengthen that sense of community.

For those interested in visiting, the shop is located at the F.W. Woolworth Co. building on 1261 Woodward Avenue.
