Nike Golf's footwear is leaning more and more toward the Sportswear realm, this time plucking a classic from the Air Max archives and turning it into a model ready for the course.

The Nike Air Max 90 is rebuilt here and turned into the Nike Air Zoom 90 IT, a new model that will make its debut on May 13 in the black/white colorway, with the white/black to follow on June 1. While the shoe is missing the standard Air Max bubble–it's got Zoom cushioning instead–the silhouette is still recognizable.

According to Nike, this design was prompted by pro golfer Rory McIlroy's love of the Air Max 90.

"I wear Air Max casually off the golf course all the time," McIlroy said in a piece at Nike News. "Making it into a golf shoe really brings something new to the golf course. Not only is it different and very cool but it also performs well, giving me the comfort, traction and stability that I need."
