You don't know it, but you owe Associated Press photographer Stephan Savoia a lot. Why? He's the man behind the iconic photo of Michael Jordan crying during his NBA Hall of Fame acceptance speech that spawned a million memes.

This impressive video has Savoia retelling that fateful day and discussing how the Crying Jordan meme came to his attention. It even has some input from onetime Chicago Bull Jay Williams.

Savoia confirms that the meme is still funny, so anybody hoping that it will go away should keep that in mind and learn to live with it.

The history behind the meme presented in the video is lacking a bit–you can't really discuss this piece of viral imagery without giving respect to forums like Boxden–but it's still interesting to get the perspective of the man behind the lens.
