A high-speed chase hit the highways of Indiana on Friday, with a stolen pair of Nikes at the center of the pursuit.

21 Alive reports that the sneakers were stolen from Shoe Show, a store in Columbia City, by 35-year-old Matthew Woods. According to police, Woods stole the shoes and fled the scene in a silver Buick.

What followed was a highway chase reaching speeds of 115 mph, police using stop sticks in an attempt to slow him down, and the suspect hitting two cars on the highway.

At the end of the chase, Woods was taken to the hospital, and to the Whitley County Jail shortly thereafter.

The local news report below of this amusing sneaker crime doesn't mention what Nikes Woods was trying to desperately to get away with.
