Sneaker Seller Scammed With Phony Money

Another meetup gone wrong.

You can add being given counterfeit money to the list of things that can go wrong during a sneaker meetup.

A man in Buffalo, N.Y., was handed some phony bills during a sneaker transaction this Wednesday, the Buffalo News reports.

The 21-year-old victim who was selling the sneakers told police that he'd arranged the transaction on a "sneaker sales website." After the sale went down and the buyer drove off, he realized the money he was given had "for motion picture use only" printed on it.

The Buffalo News isn't reporting how much money the man was scammed out of or what sneakers he lost in the process.
