A group of thieves hit a Florida Foot Locker in the early hours of Wednesday morning, using a sledgehammer to smash through the store's window and get inside the back, the Sun Sentinel reports.

They set off an alarm in the process, which brought police to the scene at the sneaker store at 930 W. Sunrise Blvd in Fort Lauderdale. From there, K-9 units led officers to the three suspects, who were charged with burglary and grand theft.

Three other people were found in the area of the sneaker store when police responded, two of whom were charged on unrelated warrants.

According to the Sun Sentinel, $5,300 worth of stolen sneakers and apparel were recovered in a nearby dumpster.
