Nike has hired Dave Dombrow, a high-level Under Armour designer responsible for much of the brand's most successful footwear, Nice Kicks reports.

Dombrow had been with Under Armour since 2010, working on Steph Curry's signature sneakers, Cam Newton cleats and more. His most recent title at the company was senior vice president of design.

Dombrow previously worked at Nike in the early stages of his career from 2000 to 2003.

According to Nice Kicks, it will be a while before Dombrow begins work at Nike due to footwear industry non-compete clauses.

Nike had a trio of its most high profile designers defect for adidas in a similar manner in 2014, a move that led to a lengthy battle between the Swoosh and its former employees.
