Not all of Michael Jordan's game-worn sneakers went to starstruck ballboys back in the day. In a new piece from Complex detailing MJ and the Chicago Bulls' historic 72-10 season, one former teammate tells the story of grabbing Jordan's shoes after a game.
The night the team broke the NBA's regular season win record, on April 16, 1996, it was John Salley of all people who ended up with Jordan's Jordans.
"I got Michael’s sneakers autographed from that game," Salley recalls in the piece. "He usually gives them to the ball boy, but I stepped in that night and was like, 'Young fella, I’m sorry, but I need these sneakers.' I don’t even know where my birth certificate is, but I know where those sneakers are right now."
The Air Jordan 11 "Concord" was on-feet for the GOAT on that special night.
